What was supposed to be a fun ride ended up as a 10 hour long ride. It may not be a traditional “century” ride, but it is a 100km ride on a 16 incher. I learned a lot on this ride. About biking and about myself.
The original plan was to leave Makati at 4:15 am, reach Nuvali by 6am and be back in Makati by 8am. We were so wrong. Arnel, JM and I left at around 4:15am. First stop was at Petron Makati Ave where we met Ron. Next was at R.O.X in BGC where we met Gary. 3rd stop was in Alabang where we met up with Magat. The ride to Sta. Rosa was relatively easy. It was the ride back to Manila that we feared. Not the terrain, but the heat from the mid day sun. We were seriously considering taking the bus, but decided to soldier on and pedal all the way back. After having brunch at Paseo de Sta. Rosa, we started our journey this time making a right turn in Alabang and taking the road near Laguna de Bay. After a few hours and several hydration and yosi breaks later, we found ourselves in Pateros, and then back to Makati by 2:00pm. Except for a few bike issues, we all got home safe.
Till our next ride.
